Friends, family and Community, I am having difficulty updating my GoFundMe page due to passwords and technology issues, so I am editing my older campaign now and just merging everything from here. This campaign started a few months ago in hopes to reach my goal!!! I am needing to reach my goal of $15,000. Please share and read my story. Here is my updated story and journey thus far.... My story starts when I was 2 years old and diagnosed with JRA. Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. JRA is a chronic disease that affects children and many people compare it to “Arthritis” that the elderly get but the disease is quite different and much more severe when diagnosed as a child. My younger days were hard and some of the worst challenging experiences that I don’t like remembering... Spiking fevers over 104 degrees was a nightly occurrence, spinal tabs, and doctors pricking and prodding as if I was their next scientific experiment or a lab rat. Most of my days were filled in hospital rooms and all the memories were images of white sheets, lab coats, sterile and antiseptic. I didn’t have that typical childhood because my days were fighting for survival and pain management. Some facts about Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA). JRA is caused by the body’s immune system attacking its own healthy tissue. Researchers believe that children, just like adults, have the same genetic tendencies that can be triggered to develop arthritic diseases. Research has not provided any conclusive solution to preventing arthritic diseases in children because the cause of the initiation of immune malfunction is still widely unknown. At age 11 after a horrible car accident my “JRA” was even more severely triggered and I became confined to a wheelchair permanently. I was told by most of the medical world that my disease would forever be a battle and likely I wouldn’t make it through High School and definitely University was out. My internal dialogue decided LONG AGO no one has the right to determine my destiny and so I fought and fought.... I graduated with my BA degree in Sociology. In 2013, I graduated with my Master’s in Clinical Counseling. I am currently working on my 3000 hours postgraduate work before licensure. This is where my magic starts. I have always been a fighter and I believe fully that without my faith and trust in God nothing is possible. I have done many things that my own strength couldn’t have endured but with HIM anything is possible. I have always been the person fighting for others or standing in the gap believing for others and screaming victory. It is now that I am needing Your Help. I need a newer wheelchair van so I can continúe pushing and following His Call upon my life. I was not able to raise enough funds last year for a new wheelchair van and was temporarily being helped out by friends. A new wheelchair van retails about $40,000 and this is just absurd. My family does not have the funds nor do I. As a intern working in Counseling, it is done for experience and the money is less than minimum wage. Being in a wheelchair is extremely high costing and everything is triple “normal” costs. Unfortunately, insurance also does not cover these expenses. Being in a wheelchair I am also limited to how many hours I can sit without running into extraordinary pain or pressure sores from sitting. I am also needing to make some of my house more wheelchair accessible. I have bathrooms that need wider spaces and areas to turn so I’m not hitting every door in my pathway. I am currently in a 2008 Dodge van and the costs of fixing and modifications are just too costly... After 2 years of fighting, I just received a new wheelchair! I am more than exhausted with how much fighting and justification is needed to assist with my everyday life. This new chair takes more space in the middle of the van another reason a newer updated van is so needed. Please continue to pray and share my story. Any donation is appreciated. I could not do this without each of you. I know I serve a GOD that is capable and i’m praying for this miracle. Please pray with and share
