Buggy & Ducky on the Road

I am Buggy's Aunt Betty, her mother Caroline's sister. If you know Buggy and Ducky, a.k.a. “The Doctor’s Ducky,” you know how amazing they are. Currently they are facing an obstacle we hope to turn into an opportunity.  They are being evicted from their home due to gentrification: the new owners want to renovate, and Burbank has no rent control. They have less than 50 days to get out. Although they can stay in the apartment until the end of May, the sooner we can move them out the more money they can put toward their future.

While their first choice would be to stay in Burbank, this may not be possible due to skyrocketing costs of living there. Several job offers have come from out of state, but their car is not reliable. For this reason, we are trying to raise money for a decent pre-owned camper van so they can travel to check out the various options over the summer, and have funds for expenses along the way.

We as their family have been doing as much as we can, but it's time to reach out to anyone else who would like to help them find a way to start fresh and feel secure wherever they end up. As most of you know, Ducky and Buggy live with disabilities that make situations like this especially challenging. In spite of this, they are bravely spreading their wings and trying to fly.

Please help them soar.

We are so thankful to all of you for helping to provide this opportunity for new beginnings.

My niece can never seem to catch a break. Now she finds out the social worker royally screwed up the paperwork on her child support for Declan, and it will probably be weeks before she gets paid for that.

As you know they are on the east coast at this point so she can't go to an office to try to straighten it out. You have all been so generous. If you are able to give now, they need it even more. It doesn't matter if it's $5 - I've said before that enough of these donations add up to a big help.

Let's show them we're here for them. Thank you all.

We haven't posted too much lately, but now the van has broken down again, after spending $800 on top of previous expenses, and the mechanic probably can't even look at it until Tuesday - they went to another shop of the same company in the hope that that shop will stand by their work.

So, as you may have noticed, I've raised the goal, and even $12,000 doesn't begin to cover everything that's come up. At this point they may rent a car so they can get to Virginia in time to pick up her other son, who they only get to see a few weeks of the year.

Both Anita and Declan are emotionally drained after fighting horrible weather, finding campgrounds that were either disgusting or closed, and having to figure out what to do with their little dog, Princess, since they can't leave her in the van in the heat. With their disabilities, they are trying to decide what to do, but Ducky remains positive, saying "Well, at least we made it 3/4 of the way across the country!"

Let's show them that, whatever they decide, we support them. Please, if you can donate anything at all, we would be so grateful, and either way, if you would please share this and ask others too as well, it would help so much. Many, many thanks.

Beautifully written observations about being a middle-aged woman, by Anita, during yet another trial/tribulation: https://buggyandduckyontheroad.com/2016/07/08/day-38/
They are surviving, and having many fun adventures during this time, but your help is still very much needed. We still hope to reach or even exceed our goal, so thank you all for supporting Anita & Declan in their quest for a new life!

Here is another video of the van setup, plus their departure. They still need your help, whether it's $5, $50 or $500!
