Help me finish my PhD

I am raising money in order to help me finish my PhD. I recently decided to try and stay in school despite all of the hardships that have come my way. In school I have focused on women's health and reproduction. I'm looking at why there are so many disparities in reproduction and certain groups have better outcomes than others. The image you see above is of a Midwife from the early 20th century when birthing in the hospital was not yet the normal method of delivering a baby. I believe that when women were birthing with a midwife they had a level of care that we don't see today. 

I am a graduate student and have put in significant time and energy in pursuing my education. Pursuing this PhD beginning 6 years ago has been the most gut-wrenching experience of my life. It has been some of the hardest work that I could have ever imagined and I nearly gave up on more than one occasion because of treatment and lack of support - but my grandma once told me to never quit school even if I had to eat pancakes only (this translated to various areas - meaning regardless of the hardship, push through). I want to finish because I don't think my circumstances should dictate that I can't. I also want to show others that it is possible and to help them have motivation. 

I have done a lot in school and also in the community. I was nominated as an Outstanding Woman in 2015 and in 2017 I was honored as a Stand-Out Black Graduate Student for all of the assistance I've done with others on campus.

 Right now there is nothing more important now than to finish my education. But it has taken a significant amount of effort to attempt to do so - this includes NEVER having proper advising and guidance OR mentorship and having to learn just about everything on my own! But I've gotten this far and am almost done -I'm on the verge of finishing but I can't without raising funds. 

Money raised will be used for the following:

- University fees
- Repair my 2010 MacBook screen. My computer broke at the worst time possible.
- Business cards so folks can contact me
- Food/Snacks for those who participate in this study. This will be in the form of hearty snacks (many in the area are impoverished and I want to make sure they have at least hearty snacks when they are involved in my research)
- Labels and Envelopes
- Large Post-its
- Audio recorder and batteries. I am looking at a digital dictation recorder. This will save me from having to pay someone to transcribe my interviews. 
- 64 gb memory card
- Entrance fees to museums and other cultural centers to gather information. 
- Paper and pads/Notebooks
- Air mattress
- Shower Curtain
- Photo processing
- Library printing fees

I know that there are plenty of folks on this journey. I figure if Trump can raise over 18 million dollars to build a wall that stands for hate then we can, together, help to save the lives of women and children. 

Not surprisingly I need much more than this campaign is asking. But I figure if I start off with the bare minimum I can find a way to get the rest. I appreciate any help and considerations.

My poor computer that I've had for years. I honestly don't even know what happened, but one day the screen went black near the right side. I wasn't sure why but I could still use it until the next thing I knew it began progressing across the entire screen until I had what you see here. 


My poor plant got totally frost bitten from being so cold on the trek to the South. I was so devastated.
