Sydni Lee is 16 and has HLH (Hemophagocystic Lymphohistiocytosis) a rare immunodeficiency and is in a desperate need of a bone marrow transplant. Sydni (Syd) is a Payson high school student with a love for life and she has excelled academically as well as socially. Sys's journey has been ongoing for years, (although just recently diagnosed) and is now at a critical point in order to save her life.
At age 6 Sydni had her first hospital stay with no explanation for her serious condition. For the next 9 years Syd would have unexplained episodes of illness increasing in severity and length of hospital stays. In 2017 migraines prompted doctors to an MRI on Syd's brain and spine. Sydni was ultimately given the diagnosis of HLH was given.
The Lee family has been through a lot in just a few years. Sydni's father Mike was a cancer surviver but lost his life to a heart attack from damage as a result of his cancer treatment. Geri Lee, Syd's mother, finds herself now a single parent to 3 children, displaced from their home in order to be near Syd's medical team in Tucson Arizona. In addition to all the above Geri has the daunting task of navigating the financial pressures of something so unpredictable.
I met this wonderful family when Geri Lee needed to get back in the work place to provide for her children. Geri, still reeling from her beloved husband's death needed a safe place to start her new career as a laser technician and I was happy to welcome her in my spa. Sydni would bounce in the shop with her cheerleading uniform on and a beautiful smile on her face looking the picture of health, who would ever think she would be fighting for her life a short time later.
This is a good christian family who finds themselves in a terrible situation and they need our help. Geri Lee is a private women who is at conflict asking for assistance but knows her daughter needs her now more then ever with the around the clock care Syd requires
