Help fund João towards Berklee
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Suzana and i'm helping a friend in need. Please see the below for his story:
My name is João Oliveira, a 17 year old guitarist from Brazil currently pursuing my dream of studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
At 14 I was awarded with a full tuition scholarship to attend Berklee's five week summer program.
At 15, I was nominated for a scholarship that covered 50% of the tuition to attend the summer program, but as my family couldn't afford to pay, I wasn't able to go.
In the beginning of 2016 I was one of two guitarists selected among players from 75 countries to win a scholarship that covered tuition, room and board. But even with the scholarship, I still couldn't afford to attend the five week summer program, so I created a fundraiser and with the help of friends, I was able to go to Boston again. While I was there I auditioned for a college scholarship and ended up winning a annual $30.000 scholarship (75% of the tuition).
I have decided to ask everyone to donate to this cause so I can actualize my goals of becoming a professional musician.
I intend to work during college, but I still need money to pay part of the tuition, room, board and other essential taxes.
