Help Send Us to Georgia on May 16th

Aaron and I recently won a spot as a Top 15 Finalist in the 72-Hour Horror Film Race 2018. The title of the competition is pretty self-explanatory; we had 72-hours to develop an idea, write the script, shoot the movie, run it through post production and submit it. To be selected as a Top 15 Finalist is truly an honor. We're also nominated in several of the other awards categories, too, like Best Director, Best Cinematographer, etc.

As filmmakers, we've been finalists in competitions before, and we've won competitions in the past... but this one is different. With the honor of being selected as a Top 15 Finalist, our film automatically has guaranteed distribution on Amazon Video Direct and Amazon Prime, starting right after the awards ceremony on May 16th. This means that people other than family and friends will see our film, whether we win any of the top awards or not.

We want to attend the screenings and awards ceremony in May, but the event is in Marietta, Georgia and we live in northern Nevada.

After scouring the travel sites online, it's clear that airfare and hotel combined will run the two of us about $1,200. That's flying Coach and staying at something slightly better than a Motel 6 in Atlanta. While we're there, we need a car, so tack on another $150... and, of course, we need to eat, so I'm guessing about another $150 there, as well. That's $1,500. The rest goes to cover GoFundMe's fees that they keep.

The little hint box on the right of my screen says, "Talk about what the support would mean to you." Well, that's easy... anyone who helps us get to Georgia for this event would be genuinely showing that you believe in us as filmmakers and creative people. That's way more important than winning any of the awards we're nominated for.

Aaron and I are artists. We're not exactly starving... but we also don't have an extra $1,800 just sitting around waiting to be used for something like this. So, we're hoping you'll help. Thank you.

Scott Young and Aaron Franke.
