DR. CLEOPHUS AND MARION HATCHER

Dear Family and Friends,

I am writing you today on behalf of the Dr. Cleophus and Marion Hatcher 5K Scholarship walk.  The Dr. Cleophus and Marion Hatcher Scholarship Walk is being established to provide eligible students with funds to attend higher education institutions or trade schools. 

This event is designed to unify the organizations Dr. Cleophus and Marion Hatcher and their family belonged to such as Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Masons, Bowie State University, Fayetteville State University, Howard University, Cheney State University, Morris College, Mississippi Valley State College, Claflin College University, West Virginia State University, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Charms, Incorporated, Eastern Star, Southern Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Hemingway Memorial AME Church, The Sanctuary at Kingdom Square, Friendship Baptist Church, Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church, to name a few, as well as friends and other family.  We are expecting a tremendous turnout. 

Our goal is to raise $25,000 to enable qualified individuals to attend institutions of higher learning.  The walk will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Bowie State University, 14000 Jehrico Park Road, Bowie, Maryland, from 9AM until 12N.  The cost to participate in the Walk will be $20.00. You may register by phone @ 301-860-4327 M-F. 

The day will begin with the presentation of the American Flag, the singing of the National Anthem, acknowledgement of our distinguished guests and statesmen, brief warm-up.  Then our 5K walk will begin, which will be indoors to music with the pace of the walk equaling 5K. 

The atmosphere will be electric with the synergy of hundreds of like-minded individuals coming together to achieve a common goal.  Our family knows higher education not only changes lives, but changes communities.

 Mission Statement

The Dr. Cleophus and Marion Hatcher 5K Scholarship Walk is being established to unify the organizations that Dr. Cleophus and Marion Hatcher and family belonged to in order to provide eligible students with funds to attend higher education institutions or trade schools.

What is the Goal of the 5K Scholarship Walk?

            Our goal is to raise $25,000 by uniting the synergy of hundreds of like-minded individuals to impact educating our youth and getting the communities in which they live to get involved.  This provides a buy in from the community to the students to be a part of the solution by joining and making a difference.

What is the Core Activity?

            The core activity will be a 5K walk which will be held inside, to music, for one hour, with the pace of the walk equivalent to 5K.

How Does Your Event Differentiate Itself?

            The Dr. Cleophus and Marion Hatcher 5K Walk will differentiate itself by incorporating a forum where we can participate in Ujama (a principle of Kwanzaa) to empower families and communities to come together around their own economic interest and see their own economic strength.

Who Will You Target as Your Customers?

The customer base for the 5K walk will come from friends, family, and organizations that Dr. Cleophus and Marion Hatcher and their family are affiliated with.

Who Will Be Your Target Audience?

            Our target audience will be elementary/middle school youth (ages 5-13), teens (ages 14-18), adults (ages 18-59), seniors (ages 60+) and families.
