I am starting this account for Halle Marie in hopes to help her family through this new journey they have begun. Halle was born on 5/14/18 to Ray and Amber Cosgrove. They were told nothing seemed off during pregnancy and they were to expect a happy, healthy baby girl.

But that wasn't the case...because of a previous cesarean, and developing complete placenta previa, Amber had to under go a 2nd cesarean. Because she had previa Halle had to be taken at 36w+6d. When she arrived nurses quickly covered her had with a hat and rushed her to the NICU. That's when it occured to them that sonething wasn't right. Amber was told she had to wait 12 hrs before seeing her daughter because that is how long it would take for the spinal to wear off enough to get in a wheelchair. She refused to wait that long and decided to try and get her legs moving sooner with some exercises pulling in them. She did it. Within 4 hrs the nurses okayed her to go see Halle.

When they arrived at the NICU they learned their daughter had been diagnosed with Pfeiffer Syndrome type 2. This is a rare genetic disorder (a gene mutation not passed down from the parents) the premature fusion of certain skull bones (craniosynostosis). She was born with cloverleaf skull which effects 1/200,000 babies. The early fusion prevents the skull from growing normally and affects the shape of the head, face and also affects bones in the hands and feet.
The premature fusion of the skull bones results in bulging and wide-set eyes, high forehead and underdeveloped upper jaw and in most cases hydrocephalus.

Halle recently had her first skull surgery on June 21st where they removed her entire skull to relieve pressure. The skull will regenerate on its on own in a few months . She will have many more surgeries, procedures and checkups to treat her condition throughout her lifetime. Between traveling, food, hotels and other expenses it will add up very quickly.

All of the funds raised will go towards any medical expenses, procedures and travel etc in the years to come.
