Elementary Technology Fundraiser

Help us inspire tomorrow's innovators and inventors by donating to our fundraiser so we can purchase Sphero SPRK and Osmo Genius Kits for our K-4 students.


Who we are: We are a diverse group of curious, diligent, enthusiastic learners from Hudson Public Schools in grades K - 4.  We love it when all of the learning pieces fit together for so we can develop new skills to help us succeed.  We like to share what we have learned with our teachers, classmates and parents and we never run out of questions to ask.   We are eager to please and find great pleasure in giving back to our community.  We especially enjoy fun, hands-on learning and we are asking for your support.

What we are raising money for: We are asking for donations to support our 1,070 Elementary School Students.  We will use these donations to enhance their technology instruction through the purchase of new technology tools.  These tools will be used with our current iPads that we recently received.   Our technology specialists have chosen the Sphero SPRK and Osmo Genius to reach these goals.

Sphero SPRK and Osmo Genius are evidence based learning tools that have been successfully used in schools across the United States.  Teaching with these tools prepares our students for the future, builds confidence, and instills a love of learning.

Elementary students are naturally curious and with these new tools they will be able to take their curiosity to a new level through play and learn valuable skills to prepare them for the 21st century.

These tools are FUN for students and provide another learning method for students while helping them develop skills to better prepare them for middle and high school.

There is no denying that technology adaptation is the key to future success.


How the money will be used: The money will be used to purchase 3 Sphero SPRK Kits (one each for Farley, Forest Ave. & Mulready Elementary Schools) and 9 Osmo Genius Kits (3 each for Farley, Forest Ave. & Mulready Elementary Schools)

Why this means so much to us:  This fundraiser means so much to us as it will help us reach our vision with Elementary Technology.  "In partnership with families and community, we will maintain standards of academic excellence, preparing all students to be intellectually curious, academically confident, and successful active citizens in a competitive and global environment."

The Sphero SPRK & Osmo Genius Kits will benefit over 1,000 students in Hudson each year.  We cannot wait to use these new tools that we have seen our neighboring school districts use successfully.  We are thrilled to be able to teach our elementary school students how to code and use technology across all curriculum areas (math, science, reading, spelling, social studies, art, music, etc.)  


How thankful we will be:  We will be so thankful that we are giddy with excitement! Our students cannot wait to get their hands on these new tools (toys) as they are so innovative! These tools promote creativity, innovation, communication, collaboration, research, information fluency, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. They facilitate and inspire student learning, develop digital age learning experiences and are consistent with our district goals as well as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students & Teachers.

Sphero SPRK inspires a love of robotics, coding, and STEM principles through play.

"The lessons in the SPRK program teach math (percentages, division, geometry, patterns), physics (speed, time, distance), and computer science concepts (program flow, variables, reading sensors, coding, programming), using hands-on, engaging activities with the robot ball Sphero.  Students can work in small groups to write computer programs that control how Sphero rolls and appears." sphero.com

Osmo Words is specifically designed for beginning readers.  It is a fun problem-solving game that helps students practice spelling and critical thinking skills.

Tangram for Osmo uses classic wood puzzle pieces that interact with the iPad to give students real-time feedback.  This game develops visual spatial abilities, nonverbal reasoning, fine motor skills, and executive functioning.


Osmo Newton teaches STEM skills by allowing students to use real live objects around them like a pen, to create structures that magically become part of the Osmo Newton game.  Students advance through engineering design challenges by manipulating physical objects so that falling drops hit the targets while getting real-time feedback.  Students are exposed to problem-solving, physics, engineering, estimation, building and creativity.

Osmo Numbers allows kids to arrange physical tiles, including dots and digits, to make numbers and complete levels.  Add by putting more tiles, subtract by removing tiles and multiply by connecting tiles together. Experimenting with Numbers helps students build confidence in math.
