In February 2017, at age 36, Holly Jazbinsek was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, which had spread to a very large portion of her liver. With the support of her husband, John and 2 daughters Shelby (9) and Hailey (5) she began her first six rounds of chemo. Amongst everything— she made it through a rare allergic reaction and three major surgeries. As 2017 came to a close her CEA level had dropped to a 4 so our family had a lot to celebrate! However, she still needed six more rounds of chemo to prevent cancer from returning, which as you can imagine was expensive even with the best insurance.

Holly and her family had anticipated that she would be on the path to remission. On what was to be her last surgery – doctors found cancer in the lining of her stomach. This meant Holly’s battle wasn’t over. After healing for 4 weeks, she was to start back on chemo treatments. More treatment, of course, means another mountain of medical bills – in addition to other bills that keep coming while Holly’s family focuses on her health. That is why once again we are seeking help from Holly’s Heroes!

After completing six more rounds of treatment, the doctor found that the cancer had continued to spread to her liver, lung and ovaries. In May of 2018, genomic test results came back as a rare mutation. At this time there is no treatment discovered to treat the mutation. Wanting to explore all of her options, Holly sought a second opinion. Her first choice was the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa FL, but they would not take her insurance. Holly soon discovered Cancer Treatments Centers of America in Georgia. They offered her a nutritionist and a naturopathic doctor. Through Cancer Treatment Centers, she met some amazing people who had incredible results battling colorectal cancer.

Holly is currently on her second of four rounds of chemo treatment in Georgia. She is using three types of chemo: two are through the port and one is pills. She will have another scan after her 4th treatment. She is looking forward to exploring more options during an upcoming appointment with Moffitt Cancer Center. Her family is staying strong by Holly’s side. We hope and pray that this battle will end soon and she will be able to return to everyday activities free from the worry of cancer.

Thank you for your monetary donations and for your thoughts and prayers. No matter how you have supported this family, we all appreciate you so very much. You truly are Holly’s Heroes!
