Help H4J Become Trained Medics

Dear comrades, 

We are an anarchist collective of primarily Black, brown, and indigenous (BBI) peoples. We are asking for your help to raise funds to provide services to our community. 

One of those services is street medic training. Street medics are volunteers with varying degrees of medical training who attend protests and demonstrations to provide medical care such as first aid. Street medic groups have been on the front line of movements and play a vital role in addressing root causes of health injustices. Often at protests and demonstrations, government medical aid, such as EMTs, works with the police to provide information that can aid in arrests. In addition to this, there is a limited amount of medical support at protests, especially at demonstrations that center BBI peoples.

This training can be used during actions that uplift our communities--our communities being BBI, queer, trans, Muslim, immigrant peoples. Once we have this training, we would like to hold trainings of our own to allow people to reclaim their own healthcare. 

One of our platforms is sustainable self-care and collective care. We would like to attend the upcoming NYC Action Medical training , but the cost of the training is $60 per person. This fee covers travel expenses for trainers and supplies. As a collective of primarily low-income queer and trans people of color, we cannot afford this cost, but recognize the importance of reclaiming healthcare and healing ablities. 

The training is taking place on
October 13th: 6-10pm
October 14th: 9am-6pm
October 15th: 10am-5pm

The cost requested covers trainings for 4 people ($240), as well as the GoFundMe fee of 5% ($12).
