Griffin's Leukemia‬ Fight

Donation protected
On Wednesday, May 6th, 2015 Griffin's mom, Liz Brundige, was told Griffin has ‪#‎AcuteBiphenotypicLeukemia‬, a rare form of ‪#‎Leukemia‬. 2 months prior to being diagnosed Griffin had donated blood to the red cross and he was in perfect health. Over the last few months, he had begun to have headaches that wouldn't go away, difficulty breathing and was fatigue. A simple doctors appointment and blood work to rule anything serious out changed his life and his mom's forever. By Friday, May 8th, 2015, Griffin was at Riley Hospital undergoing surgery to get his central line put is and has been receiving ‪#‎chemotherapy‬ 2 times a day everyday for 10 days followed by a 3 week rest time before his chemotherapy begins again. Griffin will be staying at Riley for the next 4 months while he goes through his treatments. The doctors at Riley are attacking the Leukemia aggressively and are hopeful, because they caught it early. He is a tough young man!!!   Griffin has already had 1 blood transfusion since being admitted into the hospital, with more to follow in order to keep his counts up and energy up.

Griffin is a 16 year old teen full of life and tons of plans, he has a job at Spiece Fitness, he is an avid 4H member, over the years raising and showing pigs & chickens. He's so smart! Very handy, always tearing things apart and putting them back together.

Yesterday during our visit there were times when Griffin would smile and laugh but mostly he was tired and would sleep. It was hard for my son to see his friend like this especially knowing how full of life he is. I was impressed to see and hear all the wonderful things they have set up for the kids. Despite the reason Griffin is at Riley, he was able to find some joy last night, several ‪#‎INDYCAR‬ drivers made a special visit to the hospital to see the kids. Griffin was able to find the strength to go downstairs to see these amazing men and women.

I have spoken with his mom and I with her blessing we will be starting a gofundme account to help her and Griffin through difficult time. Liz, is a single mom with 3 boys in high school with Griffin being the youngest. I can only imagine what she's going through, she is being so strong!!! Please keep the Brundige family in your prayers, this chapter in their lives has just begun.

Thank you for your prayers and support, we will keep you updated on his journey
