Grayslake DI Team to Global Finals

Hurray! We are competing in the Destination Imagination Global Finals 2016 www.globalfinals.org in Knoxville, TN . Our team, Box and Ball is made up of 7 clever members, 2 girls and 5 boys. We are all in middle school in Grayslake, IL. Destination Imagination www.destinationimagination.org is a STEM based program that teaches creativity, problem-solving, team building, thinking on your feet, how to communicate ideas, and thinking outside the box to name a few. Teams have to choose one Team Challenge to present at tournament. Teams also have to complete an Instant Challenge, that they've never seen before.
Back in early October, we decided on our team challenge - Structural. We had to build a structure which held weight and had to present a performance while trying to crush our tower. Our team won first place at Regionals. We also were presented the Da Vinci Award. This award is for outstanding creativity. Winning first place sent us on to our Affiliate (Illinois) Tournament. At State, we took second place, also receiving the Renaissance award. This award is for outstanding design, engineering, execution and performance. Second place earned us a spot in the GLOBAL FINALS competition!!!!!
We've worked so hard over these past 7 months, fine tuning our performance and building and testing over 13 towers. This is a chance of a life time to go to Globals. Not every team gets this opportunity.
The money raised will go towards housing, meals and transportation to Knoxville, TN for 7 kids. DI Global Finals takes over the entire campus of University of Knoxville. There will be over 8,000 kids from the US and from around the world. Global Finals takes place from May 25 - 28. Later this month, yikes it's coming up soon.
