Girl empowerment at Linda Community School Zambia
Donation protected
Two years ago I spent three months in Zambia. Challenges abound, this particular challenge knocked me flat!
The majority of the girls in Linda Community School missed on average of three days every month due to not being able to afford basic sanitary products.
When I returned home to Ireland I did some research on what reusable sanitary products would work best in Linda school. We teamed up with Ufulu, a Zambian organisation, that make reusable sanitary pads. We provided every girl in the school, from grade 5 to grade 10 with 5 reusable sanitary pads and a secret chitenge dryer.
These kits are having a significant impact on the girls' education. Their attendance has become more consistent. There are now new girls in grade 5 and 6 and we would like to raise enough money to provide them with these invaluable kits.
I would be thrilled if you would give a few minutes of your time to watch this video, share it and donate if you so wish! A kit cost €10.
