Janet's HSCT Fund - Moscow 2017
Donation protected
Since being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in June 2015 my life has been turned upside down.
I have been unable to work in the business I love, which I set up and put all my heart and soul into. I can't walk my dogs or ride my horse. My mobility has been affected so that I can't walk far and often I need to use a cane, wheelchair or mobility scooter.
My cognitive function is massively impaired and I suffer with terrible fatigue. At the moment I take 28 tablets a day just to keep the pain under control.
The NHS can't or won't provide stem cell treatment (HSCT) for MS, though it is a tried and tested treatment for other conditions. Although it is a very harsh treatment involving chemotherapy, HSCT offers a 70 to 90 percent chance of giving me a new immune system that won't have the cells that cause the MS. It isn't yet a cure, but it is as near as it's possible to get and the best chance I have of getting my life back.
The problem is that I will need to have this treatment abroad. I have the offer of a place in Moscow to be treated by Dr Fedorenko sometime in the first half of 2017. He has had great results so far having treated in excess of 500 patients. The clinic fee is USD 50,000 at present. There will also be flights and living expenses for myself and whoever accompanies me.
I feel awful having to fundraise for this, and it feels like begging which is completely alien to me, but there is no other way for me to afford the treatment. It is a MASSIVE target, but here goes..... I will be eternally grateful if it is possible to be able to raise anywhere near the clinic fees.
It seems like an impossible task, but if I don't ask for your help the alternative is living with this MonSter for ever, not knowing what it has in store for me or when it might give me the relapse that leaves me wheelchair bound.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will be truly grateful for your help. xxx
