Dear Friends of George Hawkins Jr.,
Since being recently diagnosed with cancer, our wonderful friend, George, finds himself on an unexpected life-threatening journey and he needs our help.
To begin the healing process, the Oncologist and Radiologist have scheduled a bone marrow biopsy as well as a brain MRI. He will soon undergo an extensive series of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. George has captivated us with his humor, his grace, his talent, his infectious spirit and generous open heart. It's our turn to shine love and light back at him by easing his monetary concerns so that he can focus solely on his path to wellness. Please help bring to George some Peace of Mind with your donations and prayers. No contribution is too little-- every bit counts!
Prior to this diagnosis, George was set to tour Asia for 3 months with Japan’s beloved Eikichi Yazawa, with whom he’s toured since 1987. Unfortunately, he will have to forgo this tour and the salary that he would have otherwise earned. George is insured, but as you can imagine, there are expensive medical costs, alternative treatments, dietary needs and basic living expenses that are mounting and becoming unmanageable in the wake of this unexpected diagnosis. That’s where you—his friends and family—can step in to show your love and support by helping George during this challenging time.
As you know, George has led quite an extraordinary life wearing many hats as a touring musician for the last 40 + years. He has contributed creatively on scores of records, films, TV projects and innumerable live concerts globally as a world-class and respected Bassist &Vocalist who has worked with countless brilliant artists and musicians. His most fulfilling role is as a loving Father to four amazing young adults, Molly, Jenna, Jack & Uriah.
George has always been a healthy, vibrant and active man so he is ready to overcome cancer and get back to doing what he loves— sharing his incredible musical gifts on stage.
