Pray for Gabriella Holland

Five-year-old Gabriella Holland Giovannone needs your urgent prayers. Without warning or any known health issues, she started having seizures on the evening of Saturday, November 26, 2016. Paramedics couldn't stabilize her at home. She was rushed first to Lexington Medical Center, and then to Palmetto Health Children's Hospital in Columbia, SC, where she is currently in ICU.
Gabriella Holland was immediately sedated and then intubated to make sure her brain would still receive oxygen. Even though her body calmed down, her brain still showed seizure activity. She was placed on a respirator, and put in a medically-induced coma to shut down brain activity so neurologists could properly assess her situation. This time has also allowed her body to rest and build up necessary antibodies, and will help doctors establish a seizure threshold as they start to wean her off the coma medications this week.
Lab results aren't back yet, but doctors are treating her for meningitis and encephalitis just in case. An early MRI showed no brain tumors, which is good news. A second MRI and spinal tap are planned for Wednesday, November 30.
Whatever the cause of the seizures, Gabriella Holland is very ill, and doctors have braced the family for a long and uncertain road ahead. She is the daughter of Jason and Michelle Giovannone, and little sister to Elijah Drake.
