My name is Tara Hunter and I am working with Lesley Holleman, owner of Fleet Feet Sports Jackson, to bring Girls on the Run® to the Greater Jackson Area.
Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
Girls on the Run® is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
Mississippi is one of only three states without a council and that needs to change. We are beginning the process of bringining a council to the Greater Jackson Area. In order to do so, we need start up funds. The cost of starting a council is $8,500. This fee includes training by the national organization, program development and evaluation, national sponsor and partnership benefits, and much, much more. We are asking for your help in bringing this great program to our area.
