GLOBAL YOUTH GROOVE Kenya exchange program

$280 of $4,000 goal

Raised by 3 people in 72 months
Sammy Lutomia  FRAMINGHAM, MA
Ten volunteer students from the Boston area schools Berklee College of music, Newton North High school and Needham high school  are traveling to Kenya this summer June 24th for 21 days to teach music to at risk youth in rural Kenya. These youth have not had an opportunity to explore their music abilities due to lack of music instruments and instruction. Global Youth Groove is seeking funds to acquire the instruments that will be used for teaching during their stay in Kenya. The instruments will be donated to a community center, where the Kenyan youth can continue to develop their music skills. This experience will promote cultural awareness and positively transform the lives of both the American and Kenyan students.
This is is GYG's inaugural trip and hopefully we will make this an annual event. We are also receiving music instruments and accessories and music production gear. The money will go directly into purchase and shipping of the instruments to Kenya.

Hi Friends, We are humbled by the support we are getting towards making this trip to Kenya a success. We have met and talked to well wishers who believe in what we are doing. "Kidogo Kidogo hujaa kibaba" is a swahili saying meaning little by little fills the basket. So we are requesting for your support and in the spirit of Harrambee! and working together we believe this cause will transform the lives of many talented youth in Africa who just need someone to place a music instrument in their hands and they will prove to us what they can accomplish with their gifts.

Dear friends and family, In the next couple weeks I'll be leading a group of Thirteen volunteer students from Boston area schools to Kenya to teach music to underprivileged youth. These youth have not had an opportunity to explore their music abilities due to lack of music instruments and instruction. Global Youth Groove is seeking funds to acquire the instruments and to cover the costs of shipping the instruments that will be used to teach music. The instruments will be donated to a community center, where the Kenyan youth can continue to develop their music skills after we come back to the states. This experience will promote cultural awareness and positively transform the lives of both the American and Kenyan students.
