Dear friends,
We invite you to celebrate our 25th year this Gemini season by joining us in a creative writing/fundraising GEMinI initiative to support the two nonprofits:
- Kids in Need of Defense (https://supportkind.org)
and
- Children's Literature for Children (http://childrensliterature.org/who-we-are/)
The Gemini represents a dual being, one with two established faces, and a multitude of others somewhere on the spectrum in between. She is an amalgam of both harmonious and clashing identities. She appears under the guise of different names in different cultures with various histories and multiple origins. She embodies, for instance, aspects of Amerindian shamanic thought that emphasizes the possibility of two (and more) states existing at once – animal and human, material and immaterial…. We all have many worlds we inhabit and identities bumping around inside of us. She (or they!) coax us to examine the ugly and the beautiful within us, to lean into and pick apart the imperfections that make us who we are. Our Gemini project sets out to celebrate this personality, this powerhouse, and to give back while doing so! It is about two women who are both very alike and very different exploring what it means to live with all of this.
Each of us will release a short story in 24 installments over 24 days beginning May 28. Each installment can be read as a blog post on our website: https://gemini25project.wordpress.com.

As you dive into our characters’ worlds, we ask that you also follow the link to our GOFUNDME site and contribute at some point during the 25 days.
