If you know Neal Funke, you know what a high energy, outgoing and all around great guy he is. He is nothing if not completely and totally honest, regardless of the circumstances. His curiosity knows no bounds. He is passionate about everything he does, from golf, to tennis, to barn ball and most recently, riding his Honda Ruckus as a founding member of the Mopesteros - Morningside Chapter. Early Thursday evening (6/8), Neal was riding his Ruckus with friends on Lakeport when he was struck by a car who merged into his lane. A horrible, tragic accident. Neal was rushed by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center, where it was determined he has a fractured skull and severe brain trauma. Due to increased swelling and bleeding, Neal underwent emergency surgery on Friday (6/9) to remove the front portion of his skull to allow his brain room to swell. The next 2-3 days are critical for Neal. Neal has been in a medically induced coma since the accident, and his entire family has been by his side, as well as his many friends who love him dearly, and are waiting anxiously for him to wake up. Neal obviously has a very long road ahead of him, and he will not be able to work for some time. In an effort to help the family during this time, we have set up this Go Fund Me with the proceeds going directly to Jenee.
