Peter's Photo Studio Fund

Hi, my name is Peter Guth. I'm 25 years old. I love life, beauty, and people. I’m a creative dreamer at heart and have always aspired to love and serve people.  My dream is to start my own photography business.  I was introduced to photography at a young age and knew it was going to be something special in my life, but in high school I was met with an unexpected problem: back pain. What started as mild discomfort slowly turned into extreme, disabling pain.

Fast-forward 12 years to today. I've been battling this pain for so long that I don’t remember what it’s like to not be in pain. I have worked very hard for many years to find a cure but the medical world doesn’t seem to have an answer. Even though it’s been difficult, I’ve never given up and am determined to not let my pain stop me from living my life to the fullest. Although it was physically challenging, I finished my college degree in photo and video production at the University of Northwestern St. Paul, MN in fall of 2012. I tried working and living independently, but after collapsing multiple times at work and being unable to stand or sit for more than a few minutes, I finally accepted the hard reality that I was physically unable to live a normal life. It was at that point that I knew I and had to make “finding a cure for my pain” my new full-time job. I am very thankful for the friends and family members who have consistently supported me in my wellness endeavor, but unfortunately I have not been able to find a way out of disabling pain.

Still, I am a fighter. I won't give up on my dreams. I want to be well. I want to return to a normal life. I will not stop pursuing that goal. That being said, I still want to live a meaningful life within this pain and pursue my passions in whatever capacity I am still able. That is why I am inviting you to partner with me through this campaign.

Although it may sound ambitious since I am very limited in my physical ability to stand or sit, I’ve decided to start a small in-home studio photography business. I believe that since it would be in my home and the environment and schedule would be under my control, I would be able to manage such an endeavor. I’ve carefully calculated a budget that would help me create a successful and professional photography studio for $3,000. These funds would help me purchase professional photography strobes, backdrops, lighting modifiers, stands, and camera equipment. I would be most grateful if you could help me achieve this goal in the form of a donation. The opportunity to work at something I love would really help me stay positive as well as allow me to serve other people even in my pain. I realize that donating money is a commitment so I sincerely thank you for taking the time to consider my cause.

The eligible donors will be contacted within a month or when my studio is assembled. My studio will be located in Concord, CA.
