Frontier Writers' Rendezvous

Tax deductible
The Frontier Writers' Rendezvous provides a forum and resources to authors and poets living in frontier regions*.  Frontier in this case means lots of distance and very few people. And that means we lack the resources many of you take for granted.  Literary events, even very small ones, are few and far between out here. And people with literary ambitions find  few local models or inspirations.
To address this need, in June 7&8 in Canyon City Oregon we will hold a Frontier Writers' Rendezvous, in conjunction with the well-known Canyon City '62 Days Celebration.
Here is a little bit about why we are needed from Kathy Moss a local author: "Everyone has a story... Everyone tells a story... if not a memoir, then a fiction, nonfiction or maybe their imagination lights up fantasy or sifi. How does a story begin to become a novel? When does a person who dreams of writing become an author. Where do you begin? How do you make words appear and a book complete? How do you develop compelling characters? Do you want a publisher? What does it take to be an indy author? So many questions, one thing for certain you do not have to do it alone. Frontier Writers Circle is a group of aspiring writers, authors, editors and just regular folks that helps answer those questions and more from beginning writers to best selling authors. This get together in rural eastern Oregon helps improve writer technique, and help support writers of all ages and genres.  To do this we need your help! As we develop our status as a non profit we are looking for donations to help support literature, history, and those who write it. Please consider donating even a small amount to help us reach our goal. Help us get the word out, advertise and support those who are at a turning point in their life. "
The Rendezvous will include workshops on a variety of topics, open readings by local authors and a book fair. We need to advertise to let the world know about the Rendezvous and that takes money. A smaller event last year cost $1156 to advertise in 6 regional papers. Full coverage in Portland and western Oregon papers would run more than $2000 and we would like to do some radio and Google advertising too.  Our goal is to raise $5000 which will pay for ads in the regional media, western Oregon media and writers' publications.  If we raise more than we need, we will donate the surplus to the Grant County Library fund. https://www.facebook.com/gclibraryfoundation
