The Kaoma Sustainability Project
Hi and thank you for visiting this page.
I will be volunteering for four weeks from the 26th of May in the town of Kaoma in Western Zambia as part of the Kaoma Sustainability Project and alongside the Global Education Experience group from Rockford Manor Secondary School.
The aim of my four week trip is:
Firstly to provide financial aid through a sustainable approach to the initiatives developed through the Kaoma Sustainability Project.
And secondly to assist the Kaoma Sustainability Project co-ordinators in developing new business ideas which can generate sources of sustainable revenue for the local communities. I will be working alongside local leaders to further develop meaningful projects that can really benefit the community.
Please note that all of the funds raised through this page are going to directly fund projects developed through the Kaoma Sustainability Project. Your contribution will make a tangible difference to the community of Kaoma.
Having travelled to Kaoma back in 2008 with Rockford Manor Secondary School, I have already seen some of the incredible work that the Presentation Sisters have done in the area and the video below describes a few of their achievements in recent years.
Just to mention a couple: they have built schools and orphanages, they have developed a fully self sustainable organic farm with cattle and fish ponds, and have created a loan fund for women-led businesses.
I will be documenting this project, I will be sharing my experience and will be showing some of the wonderful things that African countries such as Zambia has to offer. You will be able to see exactly how the funds raised through this page will contribute to the local communities' development.
