2017 Freedom Fest - Benefit Concert
It is my great pleasure to announce to you 2017 KNOXVILLE FREEDOM FEST, a benefit concert to aid the fight against human trafficking in the greater Knoxville area, on JULY 8, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We have some fantastic talent lined up, including local favorites Davis Mitchell and Steve Rutledge, as well as the acoustic rythms of the GosH DaRns and Kevin Mahoney. There are more slaves today than any other time in history? According to the Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking (CCAHT) , There are 27 million
slaves in the world today (some researchers estimate closer to 40M). Thirteen is the average age of entry into sex trafficking. The average lifespan of a commercial sex slave, once trafficked is seven years. The percentage of sex slaves who are children worldwide is 50%. The percentage of sex slaves who are women worldwide is 80%. AND MORE THAN 100 HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASES WERE REPORTED IN KNOX COUNTY ALONE IN 2015. That's just the cases that were reported.
It is my hearts desire that every man, woman, and child enslaved in the East Tennessee area and worldwide be set free from this injustice. And the goal of this benefit event is to raise as much money as we can to help the Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking (CCAHT) and its direct services program, Grow Free TN, to provide intervention and aftercare to as many people in slavery as possible.
