Our amazing friend Michael is fighting the battle of his life once again. This time they are diagnosing him with Multiple Myeloma. Two years ago, at the age of 30, he underwent a major spinal surgery removing a cancerous tumor known as a plasmacytoma. Unfortunately, this extremely aggressive cancer is back twice the size in his spine again and a few lesions have been found on his skull. We are all devastated by this news as we thought he had overcome his battle with this horrible disease, However, his biggest fight is still ahead. With a precious little boy, a beautiful wife, and loving family at home, Michael has a lot to fight for.
Michael has already been through so much and has inspired so many of us throughout his life. We would love to help him and his beautiful family through yet another difficult journey ahead. Michael is currently at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville receiving top of the line care. The doctors told Michael this was a very rare case and surgery and radioactive treatment was not an option at this time due to the size of the tumor and the way it is wrapped around the spine. After extensive testing on his specific cancer, his best chance of long-term survival involves not only mainstream treatments, but also radical integrative medicine and surgery eventually in the future. Unfortunately, many of these therapies are extremely expensive, even before factoring in everyday living costs. Michael and his wife Jennifer just moved to the Jacksonville area to be closer to family and friends, and both just started new jobs making it tough to travel back and forth to the hospital every day.
With this being said, we want to support Michael, Jennifer and their family as much as possible, and help ease their financial burden. Any amount that you are able to contribute will mean so much to us.

7/10/18-Michael is still in the hospital and is awaiting the results of his tumor biopsy tomorrow. He went into the hospital two nights ago with loss of body sensation to the lower extremities. They were going to do emergency surgery on the tumor pressing on his spine last night, but the doctors felt it was not the right choice at this moment. They have been treating him with IV steroids and pain meds to ease the pain, and he is regaining some feeling back. There is an amazing group of doctors consisting of oncologist, radiology oncologist, neurosurgeons, and primary on his case. All of the doctors today came in today at once to update Michael and his family with their plan and Michael will be starting a chemo combination with steroids tomorrow morning. Please keep Michael and his family in your prayers.
