On March 6, 2016 I went to buy a car. What happened instead was that I met an amazing young woman and made a friend for life!
Erin was selling her car so that she could pay her bills and rent as the severity of her medical conditions had left her unable to work.
At only 32 years old, Erin struggles with Multiple Sclorosis, Type I Diabetes and is now in Stage 4 Kidney Failure. She is scheduled to have surgery on March 28th to put in the fistula that will be used for her dialysis. Due to the seriousness of her Kidney Failure the doctor's have only found one vein that can be used. We pray that this surgery is a success as her life depends upon it! The recovery time for the fistula to heal and be used for dialysis is 3 months. We are hoping that Erin will be healthy enough to wait that long without having to have an emergency blood transfusion or emergency dialysis.
What prompted me to start this campaign was that 3 days ago I took Erin to the emergency room. She lives alone, is new to the Big Island so only has a small support group and her family is living on Maui. I am afraid what would have happened if she had no one to call. In 2 days I leave to return home to Arizona so it is imperative to raise funds to help set Erin up with the resources she needs to get the help she desperately needs and deserves (of course, knowing Erin - even just the short time I have - she would modestly say there is someone else more deserving and more in need).
I truly believe that God / the Universe put Erin in my life for a reason. I was meant to buy her car and become her friend. I also believe with all my heart that you, my family and friends, understand what it's like to either be in Erin's position or know someone who is or was in her position. It is with graciousness and gratitude that we raise these funds as soon as possible.
