Enzo's Operation

Enzo is a 7 year old short haired german shepherd, he has always been a pet full of life and he struggles to sit still. Until one morning a frightful yelp in the field revealed that he had in fact snapped a cruciate ligament in his leg. This isn't the first time poor Enzo has been subject to a fairly major injury, around 18 months ago he had the very same injury on the other rear leg. The recovery process was long but it gave him a new lease of life, able again to bounce around the fields.
Since the last operation the cost has over doubled to the region of £3000 for myself and my family this has become an un-affordable but necessary payment to get this member of the family on all fours again as soon as possible. With him also diagnosed with a heart murmur - there is an inherent risk of even putting him into x-ray as he may not make it back out alive.
After numerous conversations with the vet Enzo needs to be sent in for an emergency operation on the 15th January. This operation is called a TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) this involves implanting titanium plates in the knee joint to take over from the ruptured ligament. If Enzo's heart rate fluctuates during surgery he can possibly go into cardiac arrest, with no real opportunity to bring him back to life.
Enzo now struggles to get up and greet people at the door - normally the faintest smell of cheese would have him running across the house to get a piece! But with what has happened now he struggles to get up and walk around with no chance of tackling stairs.
On behalf of myself and my family, we thank you for any support you may be able to give in this time. He means to world to us and the decision for a lifetime of suffering or a life threatening operation is the hardest decision we have ever had to make.
