DreamFest 2019
The indigenous migrant field workers are the largest group of unsaved people in our community who are open and ready for the gospel. In 2018 a vision was cast and created to reach this people group through an event called DreamFest- specifically created for the migrant field workers in our community.
DreamFest is an annual free festival dedicated to loving and caring for the indigenous field workers among us. These often ignored and underappreciated people deeply deserve our welcome as part of our community. With local businesses and the residential community becoming involved as donors and volunteers for DreamFest, a lasting benefit is derived for the community by field workers becoming a part of the solution rather than part of a non-constructive debate.
DreamFest 2018 was attended by 515 migrants and 240 of them received Jesus as their Savior – including 100 children. Over 150 volunteers participated from 12 different churches and community organizations. The turnout of nearly 800 people at the first annual DreamFest was amazing.
So many unique and moving experiences happened at Dream Fest 2018. One example is a woman named Rosita, a mother who won a brand-new bike, and with tears down her face admitted having to walk miles every day to and from the fields. Another is a man named Edgar, a field worker, who received a free month’s rent. With a child on the way this gift was life changing for his family and led to his entire family receiving Christ as their Lord and Savior.
