Up until January our family was like any other family, we enjoyed days out, we were happy, carefree and healthy or so we thought.
On the 17th January everything changed, our beautiful daughter was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a degenerative neuromuscular disease.
Over the last four months we have faced so much uncertainty and had our whole world turned upside down.
Despite the prognosess Ella continues to fight on, she is the most strong, determined and happy little girl you could meet.
Unfortunately she is now house bound, she has to travel flat and there are no car seats available for her. Our only options to get her out and about again are a specialised wheelchair and a van. However as Ella is under three we are not entitled to any mobility funding.
We currently have to rely on ambulances for hospital appointments and Ella has to spend the rest of her time stuck inside our small flat.
She deserves to be out seeing the world and making memories.
We've done a lot of research and the type of wheel chair accessible vehicle that Ella needs really doesn't come cheap, a second hand Ford comes in at around 24K!
We have found a local dealer whose prices are a bit lower but still so far out of our price range.
Ella needs a van where she can have someone next to her at all times as well as having space for all her life saving equipment.
We never thought we would find ourselves in a position where we had to ask for financial help, but we have to put Ella's needs before our pride.
We will be eternally grateful to each and everyone of you who help get our little girl back out in the world.
** if for what ever reason a van is no longer suitable for Ella or we don't reach the target all money will go towards essential equipment for Ella or be donated to the SMA UK charity.
