WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS FUNDRAISER

Hello Everyone;

I want to introduce to you a young 12 year old Taekwondo Athlete from Mount Prospect IL.  3 years ago,  a 9 year old Elizabeth M came to AKYI Martial Arts, a local Taekwondo School in Glenview IL-  with a dream and a purpose- she wanted to make the USA National Taekwondo Team, and eventually further down the road, the USA Olympic Team.  After a few months, Elizabeth competed at her First USA National Championships and ended up in 3rd place.  While disappointed, she came home defeated but certainly not broken.  Her and her Coach, Ray Kyi- began training every single day, sometimes for 4-5 hours a day, improving everything from cardio, to strength, and fighting strategy. 

She went back to the USA National championships the following year stronger and smarter, and won her division- becoming National Champion! 

Now fast forward a few years later, to the present- Just in 2019 alone- this talented athlete has won multiple State championships, international championships such as the Canada Open, US Open, and Presidents Cup-  and most recently, became the only IL Athlete to become National Champion in all 3 Major Taekwondo Organizations, USA Taekwondo, AAU Taekwondo, and ATU Taekwondo.    She has also secured her Spot on the ILLINOIS State Team 3 consecutive years.  


This once young fighters dream has now become a reality- as she finally got the call and has officially made the USA National Taekwondo Team and will be representing TEAM USA at the WORLD Championships next month in Uzbekistan.    However- Funds are very short, so we are reaching out the community to ask for help to send this hard working- dedicated athlete to Uzbekistan to represent not only AKYI Martial Arts, Team Illinois, but all of the US Taekwondo community!!
