Broken Foot Fund - Medical Bills
Donation protected
On March 24, 2017, I had my first surgery to reconstruct my foot. Unfortunately, my bones would not fuse. On November 1, 2017 I had my second surgery, wherein they put in a cadaver bone and did a bone graft from my heal. I found out last week that I had 0% fusion and will have to have a third surgery, this time taking bone from my hip. I have been in a cast/boot now for 358 days. My medical co-pays so far - $12,450.00. My third surgery will cost me another $5,900 (co-pay estimate), plus a co-pay for home health care.
I currently have an opportunity to try experimental treatments outside of Kaiser in California. The treatment would be in two sessions, 6 weeks apart. It is soundwave therapy to fuse the bones. I have no idea if it will work, and I won’t know for 12 weeks post treatment. If it works, it would eliminate the 3rd surgery. The cost for this experimental treatment is minimal - $500.00, plus airfare twice to Palo Alto, CA. Total cost will be approximately $2,100.00. This would bring my medical to $14,550.00. If it doesn’t work, I am looking at approximately $23,000.00 in overall medical debt. I can pay most of it, but I am coming up short.
I have never asked for this kind of help before, and it is humbling. If you have a few extra dollars and would like to help, I will be extremely grateful. Of course prayers for healing will always help.
The bill collectors are not at my door, but I need the help as soon as possible. The timing of this rotten broken foot is not good (never really would be a good time). I am grateful for any support you may want to give. If you cannot donate funds, visits during my healing would be great! I find myself getting really depressed not being able to walk.
Mahalo (thank you) for thinking of me.
