Rex Reyes is a familiar face in Ripon as he is a Ripon postal carrier, and his wife Aileen Reyes works at Stockton Unified as a school teacher. On May 2, 2012 they were blessed with twin boys Elijah and Noah, born at 28 weeks, weighing in at just over 2 pounds. They are rambunctious little four year olds.
Elijah the older of the two( by 10 seconds) had been running a low grade fever for a month. After Almond blossom festival Rex and Aileen decided to take him to the doctor for a blood test. Soon after they received the devastating diagnosis, Elijah has AML Leukemia.
AML , (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) is a cancer of the myeloid lining of the blood cells, characterized by the rapid growth of the abnormal white blood cells that build up in the bone marrow and interfere with the production of normal blood cells.
Since his diagnosis Elijah has been at Kaiser hospital in Roseville receiving treatments. At this time the plan of treatment whether chemical or bone marrow transplant hasn't been decided.
A little about Elijah; he loves playing in the amazing club house his daddy built for him and riding his bike and scooter with his younger brother Noah. He also enjoys his older sister a Robyn. His favorite toys are Legos, and he enjoys an In And Out cheeseburger with well done fries. He also loves going to Sunday school to learn about Jesus and going camping at the beach and playing in the sand. He wants to be a fireman when he grows up.
The family has a long road of treatments ahead and could use any support you can find in your heart to give. Expenses will include food, lodging, medical bills and gas just to name a few.
