Hello beloved community! I am honored to announce that I have been offered a spot at the Macondo Writer Workshop this summer in San Antonio Texas. "The Macondo Writers Workshop is an association of socially-engaged writers working to advance creativity, foster generosity, and serve community. Founded in 1995 by writer Sandra Cisneros and named after the town in Gabriel García Marquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude, the workshop gathers writers from all genres who work on geographic, cultural, economic, gender, and spiritual borders. An essential aspect of the Macondo Workshop is a global sense of community; participants recognize their place as writers in our society and the world." (http://macondowriters.com/

My path as a writer has taken me to places I have never expected and takes me further still with my recently announced fellowship apart of the Intercultural Leadership Institute , a year-long intercultural leadership program for artists, culture bearers and other arts professionals. As I continue to build my career as an emerging arts activist and culture bearer (learn more at EdykaChilome.com ), I am so excited about the amazing opportunity to participate in this workshop. More specifically I am excited about devoting time to develop my craft as a writer, build and strengthen peer community with other Latinx/indigenous writers, and to meet and learn from inspiring women writers who are further and more established in their careers like  Sandra Cisneros.

That being said, I am humbly asking for some community support to cover the expenses to get there by June 31st. With recent health issues, my financial resources have been limited and any help I might receive would go a long way. I do not take any investment in me or my work for granted. I have been able to get here because my community believed in me and has continued to support my growth and my work. Thank you for all that you have already done. If it is in your capacity to give in this way it is appreciated if not your continued friendship and affirmations are equally as appreciated. Thank you. Tlazokamati.
