Learning from Finland

For the last twenty years, I have been committed to some of the neediest urban communities of New York City, first as a teacher and later as an educational leader. Passion for my work constantly inspires me to hone my skills, increase my knowledge and develop a better understanding of how to best serve my students, teachers, and parents. I recently earned my doctoral degree in educational leadership, focusing on leadership style and teacher motivation in the context of urban education. You can learn more about my research here .

Recently I was made aware of a fantastic learning opportunity that can help me to grow as an educator, allow me to bring fresh ideas back to my school, as well as contribute to educational research.

Edu Tour to Finland is a highly structured learning experience that involves lectures, meetings, and site visits to schools which are part of one of the most successful educational systems in the world. As you can tell by this slide show , the Edu Tour of Finland is a very comprehensive well-organized event that has a potential to greatly impact my practice.  Being exposed to new ideas will help me develop new tools and strategies that would benefit the teachers and students I work with, as well as my fellow leaders with whom I will gladly share everything I learn in Finland.  I  plan to write a research article which I will publish to share my learning with other researchers and practitioners in the field of education and educational leadership.  I also attempt to use my blog to document my reflections.  My Go Fund Me campaign would allow me to pay for this trip.
