Fleta and I are sincerely troubled by our family struggles and challenges and we are humbly reaching out for help.  Due to unexpected medical expenses beyond our control Fleta and I have fallen behind in paying our medical bills and mortgage.  The medical bills are from Fleta's fight with breast cancer and several other medical issues like my getting prostate cancer.

Fleta's fight with cancer began 15 years ago, but she has been struggling with many other issues over the years and continues to today.  Examples are thyroid issues (she had her thyroid destroyed), arthritis, pulmonary/respiratory problems, chronic fatigue syndrome and Crohn's disease.  All of these conditions require her to frequently go to the doctor's, specialists, MRIs/CTs, etc.  These require large amounts of medicine, vitamins, supplements, IVs, etc. and to receive treatments and therapy on a continuous basis.  These conditions and others have required her to go onto Social Security Disability and she has not been able to work.

Recently Fleta was diagnosed with breast cancer for the third time which required surgery and treatments on both breasts.  The surgery was performed and a week later the oncologist said the pathology showed they did not get all of the cancer.  After much praying and consultation the decision was made to have a radical bi-lateral mastectomy with follow-up treatements and medicines.

During this time I was out of work for 2 weeks after surgery.  I was her home caretaker along with the great support from our Church members.  On top of this I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had surgery to remove my cancerous prostate and bladder stones that required over 8 hours of surgery.  Recently I had to have follow-up surgery from my prostate surgery which required me to be out of work for 3 weeks.    After Fleta's surgery her Crohn's Disease flared up and required a stay at the hospital and strong doses of steroids.

We are starting to recover mentally and physically from this very challenging and humbling time but we are still struggling greatly with our medical bills, medicine costs and subsequently our mortgate payments.  On top of all this on February 8, 2017, I was told that the contract I was working under was running out of money and my employment was terminated.  Fortunately by the end of February I was able to switch over to another contract on a temporary basis.  This job is slatted to end in July 2017.

The last 3 years have been very stressful for our family mentally, physically and financially.  I have had to deplete all the funds in my 401K (it is now empty) and our savings are gone.  We are blessed with a fairly good medical insurance  but even with it we owe thousands to hospitals, surgeons, physicians, patholoty, labs, x-rays, etc.   We are payingsome of these bills on a monthly basis and others we are being taken to court on.  In taking out the funds in my 401K I had to pay penalties and higher Federal and State taxes.  This financial stress has caused us to fall behind in our mortgage payments and the mortgate company is starting foreclosure proceedings.

In order to meet our financial obligations and keep a roof over our heads we are selling our home and reaching out for help.  With your assistance we hope to get through this difficult time.

Thank you for your prayers and help.
