Poor Annie. This faithful mama kitty--just a baby herself--has been through so much. She was transferred to us from another shelter along with her two 3 week old kittens.

Annie came in with filthy ears. Her right ear had terrible ear mites and and infection, which we are treating. Her left ear is shocking. Poor Annie has a large polyp with a massive pus-filled infection. Dr Gallegos at Edinger Surgical Options believes Annie's left eardrum has been already ruptured by the polyp and she is deaf in her left ear.  It is no doubt painful.

As soon as Annie's kittens are weaned in the next week or so, we want to be able to get her the surgery she so desperately needs to relieve her pain. Called a ventral bullaosteotomy (VBO), this surgical procedure would remove the entire polyp and create a bright future for this wondeful mama kitty.

We know we just asked and you came together for Lucy. We hope you will join together again and help save another precious life in need.

Annie had the polyp removed by Dr Edinger on the 5th. He said she came through it like a champ. He removed a huge polyp that had grown through her ear canal and her ear drum. The doctor said she will be able to detect vibrations with that ear while hearing completely with her other ear. Now she is in recovery at her foster home and is anxiously awaiting the time when she can romp with all the other kitties there. Her babies are fully weaned but are visiting their mom while she is in her condo. After her final visit with the surgeon next week, Annie's drain will be removed and she should be available for adoption. She is such a sweet girl.

Surgery night update: Annie's surgery went well. Her eardrum and surrounding ear were extremely damaged by the polyp. We'll get more details later, but wanted to share she got through surgery fine. She's being kept for observation tonight, and should go back to her foster home tomorrow. Thanks everyone!

These little cuties are taking their sweet time to get weaned. They love their mom Annie so much and like full bellies of yummy milk. Annie's foster dad is working hard to get them weaned so we can get Annie her ear surgery as soon as possible. Typical great mom, making huge sacrifices for her kiddos! We're growing ever closer to the funds we need for her surgery to relieve the pain of her infected ear polyp and ruptured ear drum.
