Many of you know my daughter personally and some know me from seeing me at work on weekends. I am reaching out because Dorothy is now living with me as her back issues have become debilitating.
She was in the process of trying to schedule surgery before she was laid off and the one procedure conducted was ineffective and has exaserbated the pain. We are in the process of applying for disability but must go to court to make it happen.
Last week she was rushed to the ER as she woke unable to feel her legs. Another MRI was done and we now know in addition to the crushed vertebrae and degenerative scoliosis she has been diagnosed with spinal stenosis which explains why the procedure in July 2015 was ineffective.
The narrowing of her spinal canal has begun to push in on the nerves causing numbness in her feet and legs. All feeling has been lost in her right thigh and we do not yet know if it is permanent or if masking something not yet diagnosed.
The doctors she had been seeing will no longer see her as her insurance is refusing to cover the initial procedure. When laid-off on 7/26 her insurance was not honored through 7/31 and the procedure which was pre-approved and conducted has cost us 20k. The doctor she is now being referred to is delaying care as she has no insurance and is not yet on disability.
I know this is a lot to ask but Dorothy has one thing left and that is her faith and she believes with all her heart that God has a plan for her but I can't believe that this pain I'm watching her go through is part of it. Having already lost one child (Dorothy's brother), I'm reaching out for support so that we may expedite her treatment and alleviate this pain.
Together we we can bring her 'Sparkle' back.
