Mama Rose's Disney Dream
Please help fund my mom's last wish--a dream vacation to disney world.
Recently my 70 year old mother Rose was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The diagnosis was devastating and the prognosis was not good--even under the best circumstances with aggressive treatment most people her age would only live another 8-12 months. Due to other health issues however, my mom is not able to tolerate the intense chemotherapy and it would likely kill her outright. So, the doctors believe that with supportive care of low dose oral chemotherapy, blood tranfusions, and anti-biotics she is likely to live only 2 months. So, for the time she has left I want to make sure she enjoys life to the fullest and gets to fulfill some of her wishes.
The biggest and longest held of these wishes is to go to Disney World. Those of you who know my mom know she has always been a child at heart and it would mean so much to her to be able to have this trip. Mom has always dreamt of this but due to financial difficulties we have never been able to make it happen.
Your donation will help us make mom's dream come true. The funds raised here will pay for transportation, accomodations, meals, and activities at Walt Disney World resort for mom, myself and my husband and our children.
Note: If we should be unable to take this trip funds may be used for a smaller trip or towards medical expenses and final arrangements.
Thank you so much for your generosity, it means so much to my mom and to me!

Thanks for the help everyone! As many of you knowRose is very childlike in her desires in life, a simple innocence she has carried since her very difficult childhood. She has endured so much in her lifetime and has given me my soul mate for which I am so grateful to wake up to everyday. I want to do this not only for my elderly mother in law but for my wife....its her way of thanking her mom for providing a charmed life regardless of her own situation, with complete disregard for her own wants in life she wanted my wife to want for nothing in her childhood and as a result Lucy enjoyed every toy, every treat and simple wish a little girl could conceive of...in sharp contrast to the financial strain she was surrounded by coming from a small town in Pennsylvania in the 70's. This journey is not simply a goodbye wish but a loving daughters last chance to tell her mother how much it all meant, how lucky she felt on those days when I am sure her parents struggled and worried about simply putting food on the table. Yet those moments were invisible to my wife as a child because of her mothers persistent battle to provide the best she could under the circumstanceswhich only got harder when Lucy lost her father to cancer at the age of nine. All those years were an uphill climb and still Rose managed to push her daughter to go to college and to live life to its fullest. Because of that my wife has so many beautiful friends and memories to cherish and this is where I found my wife...this beautiful and talented artist and writer and I have loved her ever since. How can I not love her mother just the same? So to those of you who have donated, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the genuine gift of love and joy....and a simple childlike dream come true made possible by your kind generosity. To those simply reading this...thank you for taking the time to share our lives and wish us hope for a life coming to a close with dignity and everlasting joy of merely knowing you and carrying us through these difficult times. Many blessings to all.
