I am a finalist in the San Diego Comic Con Her Universe Fashion Show again this year. I was chosen from hundreds of applicants to be one of 26 who get to compete at the San Diego Comic Con and showcase my geek couture dress at the largest geek gathering in the country, possibly the world.
I find it only fitting that I utilize this opportunity to showcase a model who's community is underrepresented in the fashion world: the disabled community.
Adaptible clothing design is a huge passion of mine, as well as advocating for disability rights. I recently was a finalist in the Cerebral Palsy Foundation's Design for Disability Gala in which I made 3 looks for 3 amazing women in wheelchairs.
I want to carry over this passion into the mainstream, and am working right now on casting a disabled model.
But I need your help. I cant possibly afford to build my very complicated dress, send myself, AND send my model to San Diego next month. Please consider donating to my cause so that my model doesn't have any out-of-pocket expenses for this show.
If I reach my goal, I will be able to fly my model from the east coast and house her near the conference. Accomodations are very expensive for Comic Con, so with your help, I can find her a place to stay nearby so that it will be simple and easy for her to get to and from the event.
