August 11th we got a call in the middle of the night that our barn was engulfed in flames. We live about 5 miles from the farm, about two miles away you could see the orange glow in the sky. Upon arrival the cows were in the feed barn that connects to the freestall barn. The heat was so intense that it was melting the curtains off the barn the cows were in. In the 7 months it took to rebuild we still had 6,500 in payment that had to be made. We had taken out a loan in late winter to help cover payments that we we're behind on. That added 1,500 a month on to our payment and we're down 20 cows.
Knowing the only thing that would help would be to get our cow numbers back up we went to the bank to borrow money to purchase cows. With falling behind and credit being down and the poor market in dairy the bank considered is high risk and would not give us the load. So we have turn to the public to see if we can keep our dream alive and see if some of our prayers can be answered!

I was raised that you have to work for what you want. We never wanted any help to recover from the fire. We are in a spot where its either get out or ask for help. I have been in the dairy industry for 18 years and only 3 years on our own my grandparents had cows but sold when we were just kids. This has been a life long dream and dont want it to come to and end because of something that is out of my control thank you in advance for all or any help32479614_1535470925846290_r.jpeg32479614_1535470620317837_r.jpeg

Thank you for all the support and continued donations!!!!
We got more bad news as of the first of the year! We rent 200 acres to feed our cattle, we no longer have a can rent the land it has been rented out to someone's else. So our journey has come to come to an end current milk prices will not support having to buy feed. We are receiving the same price for milk as they were 30 years ago. Our farm is set up for daily hauling of our cow manure and once all of our generious neighbors put crops in this spring we will have no way to haul. So we have come to the conclusion through all our efforts and our hardships that we should end our journey for now and get back on our feet and try later in life if the ag. Industry turns back around. No farmer should have to work off the farm to help offset the loss and wife work elsewhere to cover living expenses.
If and all donations will go towards back debt and our note on the cows and machinery. Thank you everyone for all support! God bless

We moved back into the new barn in feb. Cows are happy to be home and are love being back in there sand bedded freestall barn. We still have work that has to be done. we got a snow storm in april 16x 36 section of the barn fell in but we afe and were still able to milk. Cows love being out of the elements they lived on pasture for 6 months while we rebuilt. For anyone that know wisconsin take alot to keep warm outside. Cows are down on milk from being moved its alot of stress on them but whwn they calve back in they should milk better.

Thank you for all your aupport so far!!!!!
