Make Derek King Mobile Again

Derek King is my wife Valerie's cousin. I have had the honor of knowing and being a friend of Derek's for the past 37 years. Derek was born with severe physical  handicaps. He must wear a prosthesis on one leg and his arms and hands are also disabled. Derek was born this way and his mother Debra has done an amazing job raising her one and only child. I believe that Derek was the first ever poster  child for the Meeting Street School organization. Over the course of his life, Derek has been able to become an independent person even though most experts said he would never. He has held jobs, graduated from Central high school, went to college and at age 46 currently lives alone in a basement apartment in Providence, while his mother lives on the first floor in the same house. Derek is truly an inspiration and has persevered more than anyone I have ever known. He has never asked for anything or looked for sympathy from anyone.  He is extremely intelligent and a sincere first class person whom I admire greatly.

Years ago his mother was able to get Derek a modified caravan that Derek could operate on his own. He became independently mobile for years and was able work as a  Disc Jockey and do other jobs. About three years ago, the engine in his Caravan caught fire  and the vehicle had to be junked, Without a car Derek has since been home bound most of the time. So what we are trying to do with 'Go Fund Me' , is raise enough money to get Derek a very good, used caravan,  and have it modified for him.
