Train For Dayved

Donation protected

Meet Dayved Stroh, my son, now 10 years old born 3 months early in Dec of 2005 @ only 2lbs.  Dayved since has had an uphill battle, but I would describe him as happy and healthy in his own way.  He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy early in his life.  He has gone through feeding clinics, therapies, sensory integrations, had braces and walkers for walking, currently uses a G-tube for 90% of his caloric intake, and is the biggest smile you will see every day.

One of Dayved’s continued aversions that my wife, his brothers, and I have been working on is his fear of walking on/in the grass.  Now this might sound like an easy one, but taking 3 kids to the park involves grass, or other unfamiliar outdoor surfaces like rock/dirt/mutch.  He has had many gains on some surfaces but stays away from grassy/rocky areas.  The thought I had is to build a garden train for Dayved.  I put a train in his bedroom that goes around the ceiling and he loves it.  It runs for an hour or more everyday (it is set on a timer that he knows how to control.)  With his love for trains if I am able to build him a train outside it might help Dayved get over his fears.  You will see in the picture I have posted Dayved loves somethings about outside (that is snow we brought in this winter, to play with…in  our kitchen!), but with your help we can start making some small steps to getting Dayved over the fear of different walking surfaces.
