David & Jenny Burn Unit Survivors

$3,825 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 43 people in 3 months
Created November 8, 2017
Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,

This past Saturday, November 4th, my brother David and his wife Jenny had a terrible kitchen accident, while making lunch, a pressure cooker exploded boiling hot liquid. They are still lying in the hospital burn unit healing from 2nd degree burns. David sustained injuries to the right side of his face, stomach, chest, both arms, and hands. Jenny’s injuries are to her face, chest, shoulder,  arms and wrists. I will not be posting pictures of their injuries out of respect for their privacy. They are both in good spirits under the circumstances. David and Jenny have two beautiful young boys, Andre age 6, and Josiah age 4, who were home during the accident, but thankfully unharmed. We are still unsure how long their hospital stay will be, and they will also have after care expenses.

They are the best people I know and do not deserve to go through so much pain. Let’s help them all we can so they don’t have to worry about medical bills and can focus all their attention on healing. Even a small donation will go along way and will not go unappreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you share this campaign and keep David and Jenny in your prayers. God bless.

Querida familia, amigos y partidarios,

Dios bendiga.

One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned over the past few weeks is seeing just how much an average person like YOU or me can do to make a difference in someone’s life. YOUR donation, no matter how big or small, really does make all the difference to David, Jenny, Andre and Josiah. THANKS TO YOU, we are funding a small family whose had to face the toughest time of their lives; physically, emotionally, and mentally. You never expect something like this to happen, and all YOUR kindness is ALREADY MAKING A DIFFERENCE. In just over 2 weeks, we’re almost half way to our goal, but we still need your help to get there!

We would never have gotten this far without our amazing community of family and friends, thank you to everyone who DONATED, SHARED, and CONTINUE TO SHARE this campaign.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU from our entire family.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 22
I wanted to give a quick update to David and Jenny’s status. They are adjusting to being out of the hospital. Since being discharged from Valley Medical, they still have to make several visits to Kaiser San Francisco plastic surgery & burn unit. Jenny took a trip to the ER earlier this week from a reaction to her medication. Her meds have since been adjusted, and she is now doing well. Bandage changes are still painful for them both and will be for a while. They are so grateful for everybody who’s reached out and kept them in their prayers. On behalf of my whole family, I️ want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Keeps the ones you love close and be thankful for the little joys in life.

Please continue to share this campaign. No donation is too small.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

UPDATE NOVEMBER 14
Jenny gets to go home today!!!! YAY! David was discharged over the weekend, and now Jenny will finally join him, and see her kids for the first time in over a week. The burns on her shoulder turned out to be 3rd degree burns and we are so thankful that she will not be needing surgery. Although they are being discharged, they will continue to care for their wounds and need time to heal. My mom, Connie Weber has taking time off from work to be their caregiver and will be responsible for bandages changes and getting them to their many follow up appointments. I will be leaving to the hospital shortly to train with the nurses for Jenny’s aftercare. Thank you everyone who took time to pray and keep Jenny and David in your thoughts. We appreciate all the love and support.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SHARE THEIR GoFundMe CAMPAIGN. We still have a long way to reach our goal.

UPDATE November 11:
Hi everyone. Many people have been asking status and I wanted to give an update of what David and Jenny have been through this last week. As you know they suffered 2nd degree burns to large areas of their bodies. They are currently in the Burn Unit and 2 times a day, they have their skin scrubbed and bandages replaced. With all the meds given, this procedure is still very painful for them. The medications given make them nauseous and tired. Jenny’s face injuries are improving everyday and no longer has severe swelling. Jenny has not yet seen her 2 sons and David finally saw them for the first time yesterday night. Andre and Josiah have been coloring get well pictures and make regular phone calls to them. David is being discharged from the hospital, but Jenny will have to stay an unknown amount longer. Her injuries are currently being monitored closely. There is a possibility she will need surgery. Prayers that she doesn’t. If needed, skin will be taken from her thigh and grafted to the areas.

WHAT THEIR FUTIRE LOOKS LIKE:
Once discharged, they will both endure physical therapy, pressure therapy, psychological therapy, and many follow up visits. They will have to return every 3 days to have their wounds scrubbed clean and bandages replaced. They will be required to wear custom made (expensive) compression suits for no less than 18 months. Jenny and David will likely also suffer from PTSD from the accident. They have a long road to recovery, but are doing well otherwise.

Thank you everyone for the prayers and well wishes. Our family truly appreciates the support given to David and Jenny.
