Hello Friends. My name is David Hannah. I am a lifelong resident of Canton, N.C. I have a very aggressive Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that’s why I’m here. I want to tell everyone a little bit about myself first. I am 62 years old and the only child of Homer and Leona Hannah of Canton.  Daddy retired from Champion International, and was part of Canton’s racing history back in the 50’s and 60’s.  He drove the #77 car, with Ralph Earnhardt, Bob Browning and Banjo Mathews. Mother worked as a homemaker. That was a full time job keeping me and daddy straight. I loved it when daddy was racing, I helped him every chance I could. That’s where I get my love for racing. My favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt. Jr., #88. I graduated from Pisgah High school in 1972.I retired from Ball Glass in Skyland NC. Then I became a truck driver after Ball Glass moved to Mexico. Been married three times, the first two didn’t turn out so great; but my third wife is God sent. She has been so strong though all this. Most new brides would have turned the other way and ran far away, but not my Jackie; she has been right beside me though this fight. Now here comes the reason I am here.

This is where our fight begins. In August, 2013, I married my soul mate Mrs. Jackie Hannah. What I didn’t know is that in six months our new life together would be turned upside down. She was like angel sent directly from God himself. She was not like anybody I ever meet before, she was different somehow. In February 2014, I was diagnosed with very aggressive type of large B-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I went thru six chemo treatments; then got an allergic

reaction to the Ratuxan in the chemo. In August 2014 the doctors told us I was in remission. We were so relieved; now it was time to heal and breathe a little.

Over the months I kept fighting trying to get my strength back, for a year that was all good, but it was about to change again. I had fallen down the steps and strained my hip, after a couple weeks went by, it wasn’t getting any better. December 2015, It was time for my regular scans, the PET scan showed my right hip was diseased. The Femur head was dead; the doctors said it was from the chemo. In July 2016 I had a total hip replacement. That seemed like a cake walk. A week later another PET scan, the results brought even worse news. My spleen was showing active cancer cells; we was paralyzed, seemed like we was caught up in some kind of nightmare. August 2016, I had surgery to remove my spleen; I was on the road to recovery again. The next week the Doctor called and confirmed it was cancer and said I needed a stem-cell transplant. All I could think about was my Jackie, she doesn’t deserve this. But she looked at me and took me in her arms and said, “Just hold on to me and I will carry you through this baby.” She is my Rock. Thank you God for giving me Jackie; I couldn’t have made it this far without her.

So here we are, getting ready to go to Winston-Salam to the Baptist hospital for a transplant. The doctor said this is the only chance that I have for survival. If the Cancer comes back it will kill me. I am 62 years old and it has taken me this long for the perfect person to come into my life, only to have six months with her, as my wonderful wife. I am asking for your help to raise $5000 for the medical bills that Insurance will not cover.  We will be gone for a month or longer from our home and family to go through this.  Please help me have a few years with my Jackie.
