Dave Green Memorial Fund

£2,530 of £2,000 goal

Raised by 129 people in 50 months

Last week our friend Dave finally lost his fight against lung cancer. He was 74 years old and unfortunately he passed away without any funds to pay for his funeral.

As Dave has no family or money he faces a pauper's funeral.

Until his cancer Dave was an active member of the community often seen walking on the common. He was an active campaigner and valued member of the United Valleys Action Group. Dave campaigned tirelessly to stop the proposed opencast mine in Rhymney.

Even in the late stages of his caner he would attend meetings and protest marches. His death is a great loss to our community and the thought that such a man’s passing will be marked by only a pauper's funeral is tragic in itself.

I on behalf of the United Valleys Action Group ask you to please dig deep and give Dave the send off he deserves.

Dave had no family and we would like the community both local and nationally to let him know that he will not be forgotten.

To all our friends campaigning far and wide. please help us pay our respects to someone who fought for our cause so hard until his death.

Guy and Girls.

What can i say!!! i am humbled by your support. We started this journey less than a week ago and if i am honest expected a trickle of money that we could put towards the fundraising we have been doing in and around the community.

what we got was a torrent of support from all over the world. the story of Dave's plight has been published in papers and website all over the world. and the international community has come to his aid.

Dave will now be able to receive the funeral he so deserved. and it is all thanks to you guys.

We will be setting up a trust fund in Dave's honour and we will use any money that is left and keeps coming in to help the next unfortunate soul that finds themselves in the same situation.

A special thanks goes out the Michael Sheen for his support.

Dave would be so proud of you all and i am sure he is looking down on you all and smiling.

Best of luck with the arrangements. As chair of Wales against open cast, I appreciate all the hard work that Dave put in to the campaign against open casting in his area.
