Don’t Tread On Me: American Gastropub will be an inviting neighborhood community establishment serving colonial themed gastropub fare. By using locally sourced ingredients, carrying regional wines and spirits, and using classic colonial cooking techniques, DTOM: American Gastropub will deliver a new twist on a New York Classic. The gastropub will be a focal point within Morningside heights, a meeting place to conduct business, meet old friends, or make new ones... A place of, and For the community.

Don’t Tread on Me: American Gastropub has taken their name from the original Gadsden flag of the United States created in 1775.  By embracing true American ideals of inclusiveness, originality, and hard work, combined with a New York centric menu and cocktail list DTOM: American Gastropub is poised to deliver a truly original New York gastropub experience.

Who We are...

An true American dream hatched by Michael Nelson and dV Batchelor, they bring over 35 combined years of experience to DTOM: American Gastropub.  With the combined talent of Business Manager Billy Cooke, they are excited to bring this vision to fruition.

Michael Nelson is an experienced chef with a demonstrated history of working in the NYC restaurant industry.  Excelling in menu concept development, kitchen, catering and events management, he was a significant addition to the DTOM: American Gastropub team. An alumni of The Culinary Institute of America with classical French training, Mediterranean influence, and a developed modern American cooking style; he has the operational chops and his creative influence will be instrumental to the development of the brand. 

Dan Batchelor brings the experience of over 25 years in the hospitality industry to this venture.  With backgrounds ranging from retail to entertainment and a strong history in marketing and events planning & execution, he has served as the impetus for the formulation of DTOM: American Gastropub.  He is excited to be partnered with such a creative and talented team and looks forward to bringing the DTOM: American Gastropub brand to fruition.

Billy Cooke has over 10 years of experience in entrepenuership and venture financing. Currently, Billy is COO and Co-Founder of 3Forge, a financial technology firm that develops and deploys enterprise data visuualization software to the largest banks.  Billy's first succesful venture was Blue Sky Solar in 2008, a solar energy development firm creating installations at corporate facilites. Blue Sky Solar Succefully devloped, engeneered and deployed $9 million in solar farms. Billy and his brother Peter (exexutive chef of 2 brooklyn restaurasnts) have been cooking together since gradeschool and Billy is excited to bring his financial, tech, marketing and operating skills to the restaurant industry.
