Fighting Cancer with Dhameera!
Right before Thanksgiving the unthinkable happened to our family, our Mother, Dhameera Ahmad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. She'd been losing weight rapidly and having severe digestional issues, however we truly hoped that we would not be dealing with the The Big C. As Cancers go, Pancreatic Cancer has been known to be the least responsive to Western Medicine. There simply isn't much that can be done outside of Chemotherapy, which wrecks havoc on a body that can barely eat or digest food to begin with.
Our Mother is a retired Principal from Oakland Public Schools and has substantial Health Care Insurance, however this Health Insurance does not cover any of the Clinical Trials, or Alternative Protocols which have been proven to be more effective in slowing down the growth of the Cancer cells as well as aiding in a healthier and robust life.
Because the Insurace that my Parent's pay for monthly, only covers the cost of her pain medications, we are forced to look outside of what their Medical Insurance provides for treatments possibly outside of the Country. It is dismal to say the least, that two people who dedicated themselves to hard work and creating a livable retirement plan would be faced with covering alternative treatments with no subsidies from their insurance company.
Due to the aggresive nature of Pancreative Cancer, there is a sense of urgency that is simply unimaginable to procure the treatment and the Alternative Medicine Specialists her condition requires. Although my Parents considered themselves to have a financially solvement retirement plan, we have come across the unthinkable and reaching out to the community to humbly ask for support for the most generous, kind, loving woman I know.
We are working to immediately get my Mother into an Alternative Care Treatment Center and to ensure that she is able to access the best possible treatments her condition requires. It is humbling to say the least to ask for help, but here we are in uncharted territory. The storm looks big , our boat feels small, and we would be enternally grateful for any and all assistance so that my Mother can have access to the best possible care available for Pancreatic Cancer.
