I am creating this fundraiser because I am in need of help. I wish this were just a bad dream wake up from and it not be real. I ask that you literally view it as if you, yourself were in this uncontrollable predicament what you would do. Please keep in mind that due to mistakes made from the past that there aren't supportive families or friends involved in helping for both parties, just them. We are good people. This is beyond our control and we need your help.
Homelessness is very real and scary. Its doesn't have to be due to drug use, irresponsibility or being lazy. Our situation is like a lot of average Americans trying to make it day to day living pay check to pay check with NO savings aside. No bueno'=No bueno'. The decision made by our landlord which in turn effects us. Lastly, we are learning a lesson in this also. Start a savings. Even if it takes forever to accumulate.
My name is Katie. My friend and I were renting a house in Newport, KY. My friend has lived here for 8 years and has kept an upstanding reputation with the landlord. Last week, our landlord and 2 investors showed up unannounced to do a "walk through" due to the fact that he was selling the property to the investors; which occurred on a Tuesday. The following Thursday (4/4/19) we awoke to a sign and letter on the door stating that the house has been condemned and have been ordered to vacate the property by 4/11/19 (7 DAYS NOTICE). Nothing more has been said to us and we haven't heard from anyone since.
Immediately, we are in a panic for numerous reasons. The #1 reason being the financial part being we both live paycheck to paycheck. Our rent falls around when we get paid. We both work at the same job and get paid past the time we are to vacate mainly due to not receiving pay until we go in on 3rd shift hours.So here we are literally like, "what do we do?"
Since the notice to vacate I've reached out to multiple agencies, churches, salvation army etc. ALL have said either we don't help with that amount of money or "WE ARE OUT OF FUNDS FOR THE MONTH". Clearly it's we've run into dead ends in more ways than one. In the midst of finding funds, I've been digging into sites to find housing, 20 to be exact, making contact & leaving messages. I'm putting in the work. We also came up with a yard sale to start putting toward our move in funds, thats tomorrow 4/7. We are off Monday and Tuesday.
I discussed doing a GO FUND ME page with my room mate. I decided that it's a shot in the dark. I hope in reading all of this that people hear and see that we are 2 people reaching out for help. No one knows you need help unless you ask. Sometimes in life you have to ask for help.
I don't have to be homeless. I'm scared to death if you want truth. I work, I'm sober, and I do the same repetitive things as everyone else. I hope that after reading this that someone reaches out to help us and know that it will be used for us to rent a home. I pray someone helps, please.
