Chris's Medical Fund

Donation protected
On May 29th, my son Chris went to work like everyone else. By the end of the day, he was in the ICU on a ventilator in a medically induced coma struggling for his life. We are so thankful for the people that got him to the emergency room and the doctors and nurses that worked to keep him alive.
This campaign is to help fund the cost of $35,000 in medical bills, transportation to and from doctor and hospital visits, and to assist with other financial needs while Chris is out of work for 3 months to 1 year.

Chris entered the hospital with a septic infection of unknown origin. He was unable to maintain the appropriate oxygen and blood pressure levels to sustain life and spent 4 days sedated on a ventilator and 1 week in the ICU. He remained in the hospital for another 2 1/2 weeks and required two surgeries. They eventually diagnosed him with a streptococcus bovis infection caused by spontaneous bacterial peritonitis--a complication of cirrhosis. The cirrhosis is thought to be the result of a genetic autoimmune disorder. He has been working with the physicians for the past several years to find the answers and treatment for this on going illness. There are still a lot of unanswered questions with a team of doctors looking for the answers.

Chris will have ongoing tests and treatments at the California Pacific Medical Center Liver Center. His current doctors have requested he be evaluated and added to the list for a liver transplant.

Chris has always been a fighter when it comes to life and death issues. He was in a near fatal accident at age 17. He was a passenger in a vehicle that rolled, throwing him through the sunroof and rolling over him. He sustained multiple broken bones, including a broken pelvis, head trauma, second- and third-degree burns and internal injuries. He spent a week in the ICU and 6 months in a hospital bed at home.  At age 19, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After a year and a half of multiple surgeries, chemo, radiation, and five years of maintenance meds and testing, the doctors declared that he was cancer free.

There have been other accidents and health issues throughout his life that he has managed to recover from or learned to live with. In the face of it all, Chris has maintained a winning attitude and has continued to fight. Sometimes there comes a point when a person needs support to maintain that fight.

For those with the means to offer financial support, it would be greatly appreciated. We are also very accepting of healing thoughts and prayers.

A special thanks to his steadfast friends for assisting at his home to help him maintain quality of life while he goes through recovery and ongoing testing. We are so grateful for your help and support at this critical time.

Thank you.
